I don't know why they haven't found me yet, but I can't let that get to me. I can't pretend that I'm safe anymore. Every once in a while I'll hear this voice in my head saying that it's okay, it's all a bunch of crap, you can go home now. But it's not. I just know it's not.

I wish I didn't feel so alone in all this. I wish I could just call up one of my friends and tell them everything, and ask them to come meet me here. I've been tempted to. But I know if I get anyone else mixed up in this then they might come to harm. They might even betray me. This is why I feel guilty about even having any of you help me.

I just wish my dad was here. And Pennyworth. I barely even knew him, but after reading what he wrote on my father's website I feel like I do. I've missed my father so much since he disappeared, and then I found this person who had known him since before I was born. He was the closest to my father I have been in three years, yet I didn't listen to a word he said. I feel so unfathomably foolish right now. Pennyworth, I'm sorry. I should have listened to you. I hope I can make it up to you.

I've been looking around for those coordinates. I tore apart my father's notes and found nothing. Then I remembered Heimdall Industries. Written on the back of a newsletter was this:

fjorheim:749qrb

Could this be one of them? It's not in my handwriting, obviously. It does look familiar though. I can't quite put my finger on it. I don't entirely understand what's causing it. Obviously, when you have to leave your home and quit your job because people are spying on you and there's Norse gods trying to kick your...nevermind. It sounds ridiculous. That's part of why I can't comprehend it. I've been trying to fight it, I've been trying to understand everything, but it's just too big for me. But it feels so real. Somehow, I know that I play a part in all this. Sadly, I don't even know what "all this" is.

I left town. I listened to Pennyworth. I went to the house I grew up in. Where it used to be, anyway. It's a restaurant now, and the park where I used to play is a Starbucks. Times are changing. I don't know where I'm going to go from here, but I have a plan. I'm not going to stay in one place, but I think I should stay here for a while. I haven't had much sleep lately because of them.

In other news, Mr. Heimdall and everyone finally returned today. Mr. Heimdall brought a spear with him and set it up in his "museum." It's beautiful, yet strangely familiar. Sorry.

Work the last few weeks has been busy. Most of the main staff is off in Russia working on the big mining operation. Do executives usually do that? Honestly, it seems like a bigger deal than they're publicly making it out to be.

My job the last few weeks has just been to forward Mr. Heimdall's calls and mail to his private residence across the ocean. It seems like he's going to be there for a while. Aside from that, he's allowed me to translate some of his manuscripts. I don't know why they're so important to him, or how they affect his business, but I think it's best not to ask questions.

Legally, I'm not allowed to say much about them. But I will say that they're very, very interesting. I'll also say that they seem to be rare mythological texts and should probably be kept in museums or studied by professionals, but I'm not complaining. Still, I have to wonder why he wants me of all people to look at them.

I've also been plagued with odd dreams lately. I saw a man who looked terribly familiar speaking before a large crowd. I saw explosions, people fighting, people dying. It was all very disturbing. It would be less hard to deal with if I didn't have the same one every night for the past three weeks.

As for the link posted in my comments...I don't know. I'm back at home and I've been working hard at Heimdall. At first I was merely organising papers and the like, but then the CEO, Wilhelm Heimdall, asked me to tend to his personal library. The corporation primarily deals with construction, so finding a vast library of old Germanic and medieval texts was a pleasant surprise. We got around to discussing everything from Beowulf to the Volsunga Saga, and then he showed me several unique manuscripts that he has come across. He asked me to look at them and I was amazed. There were several abnormalities in the texts, which were in Old English, which I had never seen before. Indeed with the arrival of Viking invaders and the like some basic Old Norse words were introduced to the English language, but the amount here was far more than I had ever seen. Perhaps they originated in the Danelaw so there probably isn't much mystery here, but that doesn't make it any less interesting. In any case he was impressed by my display of knowledge on the subject and asked if I would like to review them again some time so I agreed, being the pseudo-philologist that I am.

In other news, I was nearly hit by a car on my way home. That was hardly pleasant.

The comments on my last post are very troubling.

Apparently the Eyes of Woden are spying on me. None of the positions really appealed to me, and most of the time I didn't get a call back for any of them, so I had all but given up hope. Then, yesterday, I got an odd phone call. An executive at Heimdall Industries was apparently given my resume by a friend of his, thought I had potential, and wanted to meet with me. I accepted and went in yesterday. The interview went extremely well so I'm hoping for a call back soon. It pays well too, so I won't have to worry about nearly missing my rent anymore.

Aside from that, I had a nice chat with someone named Esteed the other night. We discussed the quote I posted about on Tuesday, what it could mean, and the possibility that Woden's influence stretches into our own world. He told me about a very interesting group called the Eyes of Woden. I checked out their website yesterday and was intrigued. It's a shame their membership requirements are so strict, but then again it appears to be some sort of secret society so that shouldn't be a surprise.

Another thing that's intrigued me is this site that appears to have some sort of connection to all this. I was unaware that anyone else knew about Dr. Ragnarsson's report. If whoever runs that site reads this, I'd very much like to get in touch with you.

Last time I mentioned the theft of the Tanais Apparatus.

According to Dr. Ragnarsson's notes, his relationship with my father was strained for a while. Before they started working together, Ragnarsson asked my father to swear that he would never tell anyone about the work he was doing. My father did so, and they informally became teacher and student. However, this changed when Ragnarsson was visited by two strange men.

He describes them as your typical Men in Black; black suits, white collared shirts and black ties. They asked if they could inspect his office, with no reason given other than that they were ordered to. When he asked which agency they belonged to, they simply smiled and changed the subject. They casually shoved him aside and proceeded to tear everything apart, despite his objections. When they found the locker in which he kept the Tanais Apparatus and the notes relating to it, he tried to force them away, but he was knocked out. When he came to, the Appartus was gone and so were the two men.

At first he thought my father had something to do with it. Father tried to convince him that he didn't, but Ragnarsson refused to speak with him. This went on for several months, but ended when Ragnarsson found a lead. Unfortunately, the entire section on this lead is missing from his notes, which is a shame because it is what I'm most interested in finding out. The following is the only information relating to it that I have to go on:

"In light, Truth.
In death, Life.
The Balance will be shifted."

This is where I need your help. Can anyone tell me what this means? I've done my best to figure it out, but my efforts have been fruitless. If you have any information, please comment here or feel free to chat with me on AIM sometime. My screenname is hermodtimeless.

Thank you.

I hope you can forgive me for my long absence. I intend to update this blog more frequently, and right now I will do my best to continue from where I left off. I last posted about Dr. Ragnarsson's alleged journey into Fjórheim and the historical information he transcribed whilst staying there. There is simply too much information for me to tell you about, so I will post only what I considered to be the most important fragments.

From what I could gather, the world was united under a stable government until a revolutionary named Woden allied himself with an otherworldly force that brought great ruin. This force allowed him to set up his own world-wide dictatorship, which was still in power when Dr. Ragnarsson visited there. What was once a peaceful and ancient land swiftly became both industrialized and militarized, and high technology reigned.

All seemed to be going well for Woden, for the swords and arrows of the resistance were no match for his otherworldly weapons. However, unbeknownst to him, the resistance were fashioning their own. It took several years, but eventually they caught up with Woden's forces technologically. This allowed the war to be fought on even ground, and many territories were reclaimed. A "revolutionary government" was set up, along with its very own military, and there was finally hope in the peoples' hearts.

The war was far from over, however. Everything from dissension in the ranks to the formation of splinter groups who wanted to do things differently slowed everything down considerably. By the time Dr. Ragnarsson returned to our world, the two sides had reached a stalemate and there was no end in sight.

His notes from there on were mainly speculation. Would it be Woden? Would it be the revolutionaries? Would the splinter groups do something foolish and wipe out both sides? It was clear that he was desperate to find out what would happen next, so he planned another trip. That never happened, though. It wasn't because of his death, either; the Tanais Apparatus was stolen.

Continuing from where I left off...

When I was looking through those journals, I came across a section dedicated to the "history" of these alternate worlds. A diagram was present, which detailed nine different worlds, including our own. Little was said of most of them, aside from their names. One, however, had an incredibly detailed history.

This one was said by Dr. Ragnarsson to have once been a very peaceful world, ruled over by a fairly advanced race of people. According to his notes, he came across a device called the Tanais Apparatus in 1960, which had been constructed by an unnamed Russian years earlier. The device could only work within a location with high levels of an unidentified "power source," however, which was close to the Russian city of Tula.

Dr. Ragnarsson claims to have lived there for a while, studying the Apparatus in secret. During this time he discovered the existance of the nine worlds, and gave them names; our world, he called "Midgard." Eventually, he says, a gateway to another world was opened up. He ventured into this unknown land, which he had previously dubbed "Vanaheim," and learned its rich history.

While he studied in this world, which he learned was actually called "Fjórheim," he transcribed many historical documents; legends from its creation to its then-present time. These documents told of a beautiful world, full of beauty and natural resources, which had been corrupted by a force from another world. A warrior by the name of Woden then allied himself with this force, and drove the world into chaos.

Dr. Ragnarsson returned from his journey and wrote on the subject of these worlds for many years. It wasn't until 1976 that he compiled his findings in a volume called "The Yggdrasil Report." My father, then 21, befriended Dr. Ragnarsson and began work on a translation. The translation is a rather makeshift effort, handwritten and spread across several notebooks. Here is his attempt at translating Dr. Ragnarsson's diagram of the "Nine Worlds."

I'll go into this more eventually.

P.S.,
I noticed there were some comments on my previous entry, and I'm afraid I have no idea what they mean. I have never seen that site before, though whoever made it seems to have some interest in Dr. Ragnarsson and my father's work. Strange.

There exist many worlds parallel to our own, and in each of them we exist also, albeit completely differently.

This has been speculated by a great many people, but now I know it to be true. Perhaps by accident I came across this truth, and now feel it is my responsibility to reveal it.

In 1976, a little-known Swedish physicist by the name of Sven Ragnarsson began research on the existance of multiverses. He studied in secret and made great progress, but by 1979 he had fallen gravely ill. In his final months he passed on his work to my father, until finally succumbing to tuberculosis in September of that year.

My father never spoke much of the project, except that it meant a great deal to both him and Dr. Ragnarsson. I was sure he told my mother much of it, though I never really asked her much about it, as my interest in the matter only piqued in recent years, after her death and my father's disappearance.

Yes, my father went missing in the spring of 2004, exactly one year after my mother's untimely passing. Whether he left in grief or if something terrible befell hi m I may never know. As I was planning to sell the house and was packing up their things that winter I came across my father's notes, and also those of Dr. Ragnarsson. At first I gave little heed to them, as I myself am a mere librarian and equations and scientific jargon don't exactly tickle my fancy. However, whether it was out of sheer curiousity or simple desire to read my father's handwriting again, I sat down and read the complete work. "The Yggdrasil Report," it was called.

I didn't believe it at first. I thought it was a work of fiction, more fantastical than anything I've come across in the library. It told of infinite worlds, stretching beyond time and space, yet at the same time right under our noses. It told of alternate pasts and alternate futures, alternate versions of ourselves and everything else. More intriguingly, though, it told of contact.
